Many women still face barriers to getting regular mammograms, CDC study finds
·1 min
A recent study conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that women with more health-related social needs are less likely to get mammograms, the recommended screening for breast cancer. The study analyzed data from a health survey and revealed that women aged 50 to 74 with three or more health-related social needs were almost 20% less likely to undergo mammograms compared to those without any social needs. Cost was identified as the primary barrier to accessing mammograms. Addressing these social needs could improve breast cancer screening rates and save lives.
